Wontanara Leipzig

Terms of Participation and Course Terms

These terms apply to participation in our regular classes (drumming, dance, singing) as well as in our workshops. After the shared basics you will find the specifics for the regular classes and the workshops.

Our Values

Wontanara means “we are one”. Our classes and workshops are a place of encounter — open to everyone, regardless of origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age or physical ability.

  • Respectful interaction: We treat each other kindly, patiently and as equals — in class, before and after.
  • Appreciation of West African cultures: Music and dance from Guinea and West Africa are living traditions. We learn them with curiosity, humility and recognition of their origins and of the people who pass them on to us.
  • Openness and mutual respect: Mistakes are part of learning. Nobody has to be good at anything — everyone is welcome to learn everything.
  • For an open and democratic society: Our association stands for diversity, solidarity and democratic coexistence.
  • No tolerance for exclusion: Discrimination, racism, sexism or any other form of degradation have no place with us. Anyone who demeans others may be excluded from the classes and workshops.

Code of Conduct

All participants agree to comply with the class and workshop rules and to follow the instructions of the instructors and the organizing team. Mutual respect, punctuality, and consideration for others are essential for creating a positive learning environment.

Disruptive or inappropriate behavior may result in exclusion from the class or workshop. In such cases, no refund of the participation fee will be provided.

Electronic devices must be switched to silent mode or turned off during classes unless they are explicitly required.

Regular Classes

Registration and Payment

Participation in the regular classes works via single tickets, trial classes and 10-class passes from our shop. Payment is made in cash on site. Credit is only created once payment is complete.

If you attend a class without credit, you pay the single price on site or settle the outstanding amount at your next visit.

Validity of 10-Class Passes

10-class passes have a limited period of validity. The respective duration is shown on the product in the shop and starts with the purchase. Unused credit generally expires at the end of the validity period — there is no entitlement to a refund unless an approved exception applies.

Holidays and breaks do not count: Periods without classes (e.g. summer holidays) automatically extend the validity by the corresponding days. These periods are visible in your account.

Extension in exceptional cases: In the event of prolonged illness, pregnancy, a longer stay abroad or other serious personal reasons, the validity can be extended upon request. The request is submitted directly in your account on the respective pass, reviewed by an authorised person and expressly approved or declined. Without an approved extension, the expiry date remains binding.

Reduced Rates

Reduced prices are available for people with low income (e.g. pupils, students, benefit recipients). The reduction is requested in your account or directly with an order; proof is shown on site. Once approved, reduced prices apply automatically — including to orders that are still open.

Cancelled Classes

If a class is cancelled (e.g. teacher illness), no credit is deducted. Cancelled dates and holiday periods are marked in your account.

Workshops

Registration and Payment

Registration for the dance and percussion workshops is binding and obliges you to pay the respective participation fees — regardless of actual attendance.

The published booking deadlines apply to special offers. To receive the discounted price, payment must be received within the stated period. Once the deadline has passed, the next price level automatically applies.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Cancellation is free of charge up to 15 days before the start of the workshop.

If you cancel less than 15 days before the workshop begins, no refund will be granted. If the participation fee has not yet been paid at that time, the full amount will still be due.

If Wontanara Leipzig cancels a workshop, any participation fees already paid will be refunded. If a workshop is rescheduled, participants may choose between transferring their registration to the new date or receiving a refund. Any bank or transfer fees incurred may be deducted from the refunded amount.

Changes

Wontanara Leipzig reserves the right to make changes to dates, schedules, venues, or teaching staff whenever necessary.

Liability

Participation in the classes and workshops is at the participant's own risk. Wontanara Leipzig shall only be liable within the limits established by applicable law. Wontanara Leipzig accepts no responsibility for the loss, theft, or damage of personal belongings, nor for injuries or damages resulting from a participant's own actions or the actions of third parties.
